Our firm is adding an experienced driven litigation staff attorney to our civil rights jail neglect injury/death practice team. The position is fully remote and requires current and continuous Texas residency. Seven to ten years of heavy civil litigation experience is preferred. If you are a self-starter and want to litigate meaningful cases with a hard-working and friendly team, this could be your opportunity. We represent families of people who die in jails from neglect, abuse, or suicide, as well as people catastrophically injured or sexually assaulted in jails. Most cases involve people dying from medical neglect, and we litigate all cases in federal courts across Texas. A federal clerkship, federal court experience, and/or personal injury experience would be plusses. The staff attorney interacts with current and potential clients and opposing counsel; critically reviews and summarizes voluminous evidence (documents, audio recordings, and video recordings); drafts discovery objections and responses, motions and responses (including assisting with frequent summary judgment motion responses), letters, and other case-related documents; takes and defends depositions; and appears at and/or assists with hearings and trials across Texas. Our principal office is in downtown Dallas, and some travel to our office might be required on occasion. We offer a friendly, fast-paced environment with benefits. Base annual starting salary is $150,000 to $200,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Bonuses are also paid when cases resolve. If you are interested, please upload your resume', a cover letter, a writing sample (10 pages or more with legal citations), your law school transcript (if you graduated in the last 15 years), and your salary requirements.
